FAQs about our Physiotherapy service

Prior to treatment you will need to fill out a health questionnaire. The information in this form will help Charlotte to create a bespoke treatment plan. It will help her to see “the bigger picture” of how and why you might be injured, and some of the current demands on your body. Always be open and honest in your communication regarding your previous and current health status. This way Charlotte will be able to help you achieve the most beneficial results from your sessions.

The first appointment is used to gather further information and assess your movement and injury. Charlotte will use a range of assessment skills to determine your best treatment plan. There will usually be time to also start treatment, whether that be hands-on treatment and/or exercise therapy. Exercises will always be practiced together before you go home.

  • Give yourself plenty of time to get to your appointment. And don’t madly dash off after your appointment either. Give yourself a nice bit of time either side of your appointment to enable you to process everything that we do together.
  • Clear communication is essential. Mention anything you consider relevant. You know your body better than anyone else. *Commit time to doing the Physiotherapy exercises that you are given. Your rehabilitation will be a team effort; the more you can get involved the quicker things should improve.
  • Listen to your body. Charlotte will help you learn how to listen to your body, so you can effectively make progress

Your first appointment will usually take a bit longer (approx 60-75 minutes). This gives Charlotte time to assess you thoroughly and start some treatment. Follow-up appointments are usually about 45 minutes long, depending on your treatment plan. Please give yourself plenty of time either side of your appointment. Arriving on time will help you come to your session in a calmer state-of-mind, which will enhance your productivity within the session. It is also helpful to give yourself some time after your appointment to digest what you have learnt and to let your body settle.

Wear something you feel comfortable in and can move freely in. If you need to change out of work clothes you will be given time and space to do this. Charlotte will need to carry out a thorough assessment of your injury, and hands-on treatment may be needed. It is important that Charlotte can access the injured area properly. You may wish to wear shorts (and crop top for women), but please don’t worry if you don’t have these items of clothing. You can undress down to a level you are most comfortable with. Charlotte will always give you privacy to undress and you will be covered with a towel at all times during treatment except for the area being worked on.

We use Sweet Almond massage oil. However, if you have any allergies or sensitivities to certain oils / lotions please let us know before your appointment.

This depends. We are not registered with any health insurance companies. This is our own personal choice as a company, so we are not limited in what we are able offer you. Please check with your health insurance provider before starting treatment. Some insurance providers are only happy for you to be treated by specific physios.

Please note that you will need to pay us upfront for your appointments, and then claim any money back from your insurance company.

What our Physio clients say about us

I have been going to see Charlotte on a one-to-basis for some months relating to an ongoing back and leg problem.   I have found her physio sessions to be most beneficial in relieving my aches and pains.  I find Charlotte to be most sympathetic and understanding and we manage between us to put the world to rights during each session!   She has gone to considerable lengths to ensure the safety of her patients during this pandemic.   I would certainly recommend Charlotte to anyone requiring treatment or exercise.
